Passengers aboard the tour boat Mira III got an unusual surprise on Monday when a beluga whale appeared during their trip on Lillebælt, DR reports.
Skipper Line Jepsen spotted something unusual out of the corner of her eye.
“My brain registered that it was a whale, but then I thought: They’re not white. But then it came up again, and it was completely clear that it was a whale, so I shouted from the wheelhouse: ‘Beluga, beluga,’” she said.
Whale expert Carl Kinze, who has seen video of the animal, confirmed to TV Syd that it was a relatively rare beluga whale.
The sighting delighted the passengers taking part in the whale-watching trip.
“They were supposed to come inside at 1 p.m., but they forgot,” Jepsen said with a laugh.
