Knutson says tax debate divided Sweden’s left and right

Party leaders clashed over several issues during SVT’s final election debate on Friday evening, with taxes and law and order emerging as particularly heated topics.

“It is very clear here how tax policy defines left and right in Swedish politics,” Mats Knutson, SVT’s domestic politics commentator, said in an analysis published by SVT.

“The debate became contentious specifically around taxes. It also heated up around law and order,” Knutson said.
