Police suspect a doctor or doctors in the death of 27-year-old Olivia Oras, who had been a patient at Plastic Surgery Center, a clinic in Helsinki, Yle reports. Oras died on September 3, days after undergoing cosmetic surgery.

According to a document seen by Yle, police recorded August 31 as the date of the suspected aggravated causing of death by negligence. The investigation is being conducted under that offence.

Investigation leader Detective Chief Inspector Juha Piippo confirmed the suspicion involving medical professionals. He did not comment on whether anyone had been arrested or detained.

Police carried out a special search at the Plastic Surgery Center clinic on Aleksanterinkatu on Thursday. Such a search may be conducted when there is reason to believe that premises contain information protected from seizure, for example in a doctor’s consulting room. Unlike an ordinary search, it must be attended by a search official.

According to information obtained by Yle’s MOT programme, Oras lost consciousness while receiving anaesthesia before liposuction. It is not known whether an error occurred during her treatment.
