Government has not chosen model for Tjørnuvík tunnel

The Faroese government has not yet decided whether the tunnel to Tjørnuvík will be built under the same arrangement as the tunnel to Dalur, KVF reports.

Landsverk and its tunnelling team built the Dalur tunnel, which cost 180 million kroner. The alternative would be to put the project out to tender for construction companies.

Parliamentary representative Høgni Hoydal asked Transport Minister Jacob Vestergaard about the cost distribution for the tunnels.

Vestergaard said private contractors accounted for 74 percent and public providers for 26 percent of the work on the Dalur tunnel. Private contractors accounted for 96 percent of the work on the Famjin tunnel, 94 percent on the Hvalba tunnel and 98 percent on the tunnels north of Fjall.

Construction companies built those tunnels. The figure for the tunnels north of Fjall is provisional because Landsverk and the construction company disagree over some expenses, the minister said.
