All of Holstebro Municipality’s day centres for older people could be cut, even as the number of older residents increases, DR reports.
The proposal appears in the municipality’s catalogue of possible savings ahead of upcoming budget negotiations.
Nina Dalby, chair of the Holstebro branch of Ældre Sagen, said she was shaken by the prospect.
“Older people in particular need to get out and be among others. If day centres in outlying areas close, older people will end up sitting at home and becoming depressed and sad,” she said.
Jens Kristian Hedegaard of the Liberal Party, chair of Holstebro Municipality’s Social and Health Committee, does not want to comment on individual proposals.
