Burglars flee before resident returns

Burglars who had stacked items to take from a home left before the resident returned, mbl.is reported, citing the Capital Area Police.

The attempted burglary was reported in the area served by Police Station 4, which covers Grafarvogur, Mosfellsbær and Árbær.

In the area covered by Police Station 1, which includes central Reykjavík, Vesturbær, Austurbær and Seltjarnarnes, officers were called to a hotel after a man in an altered state shouted at people outside. He went into the hotel lobby and struck a computer screen and a desk phone, but did not damage either item. Police arrested him and took him to a station, where suspected drugs were found in his possession.

Police also received a report of a burglary in an industrial district in the area served by Police Station 2, which covers Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Álftanes. Men had stolen items including tools and tried to disable surveillance cameras.
