Finnair cancels flights after UK airport technical failures

Finnair has cancelled several flights because of technical problems at airports in the United Kingdom, Yle reported. The airline said it would contact customers directly about any changes, and further cancellations or rerouting could follow.

Finnair flight AY1335 from Helsinki to London landed at London Stansted Airport instead of Heathrow Airport. Finnair said it planned for the aircraft to return to Finland later on Tuesday.

The return flight AY1336 from Heathrow to Helsinki has been cancelled. Finnair has also cancelled flight AY1337, scheduled to leave Helsinki for London at 4pm, and flight AY1339 on the same route, scheduled for 7.30pm.

Finnair said it was not currently aware of any other delays. The airline said it would contact passengers directly if further changes were needed.

Operations at several UK airports were disrupted on Tuesday, resulting in almost 300 cancelled flights. Nats, the aviation service responsible for air traffic control in the UK, said on Tuesday evening that the fault had been identified.
