Northern Suðuroy municipalities plan health centre at Tvøroyri

Three municipalities in the northern half of Suðuroy plan to build a health centre at Tvøroyri, with completion possible in the second quarter of 2029, KVF reports.

The Faroese government has not yet decided where the island’s new health centre should be located.

The Ministry of Health and Energy recently received responses from municipalities in Suðuroy on whether the existing health centre in Vágur should be expanded or a new centre should be built. The responses are now being considered, Health and Energy Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen said recently in a written answer to Member of the Faroese Parliament Jenis av Rana.

Municipalities in the southern half of Suðuroy want a health centre for the entire island, and say it should be located in Vágur.
