Finland is observing Swedishness Day today, a day also known as Gustavus Adolphus Day, Yle reports.
The day was first observed in 1908 and has been listed in the calendar as a flag day since 1979.
Its original purpose was to strengthen a sense of unity among Swedish-speaking Finns. It has since also become a day to honour Finland’s bilingualism.
