Police stop 11 drivers in Reykjavík area

Police in the Reykjavík area stopped 11 drivers on Sunday, including seven who were driving under the influence, according to mbl.is. Most of the cases were handled routinely, apart from a reckless driving incident involving a Hopp shared car.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station One, which covers Laugardalur, Hlíðahverfi, Háaleiti, central Reykjavík, Vesturbær and Seltjarnarnes, three drivers were stopped for speeding.
Police also struggled to pursue a driver in a Hopp shared car from central Reykjavík to Víðidalur. The driver struck at least four vehicles, including two police cars.
A joint police team from Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær stopped three drivers, all of whom were found to be driving under the influence. Officers also dealt with a fourth driver who was under the influence and had been disqualified from driving.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station Three, which covers Kópavogur and Breiðholt, two drivers were stopped. One was intoxicated, while the other was under the influence of drugs and had been disqualified from driving.
Police also stopped a driver farther east in the Reykjavík area who was driving despite being disqualified.
