Underage boy dies after moped crash in Liperi

An underage boy has died from injuries sustained in a moped crash in Ylämylly, Liperi, Yle reports.

Police said the boy was found injured at the junction of Ylämyllyntie and Karmikujа at about 2.30am on Sunday. A bystander had heard the sound of a moped followed by a loud crash.

Emergency medical services later informed police that the boy had died from his injuries.

According to the police investigation, the moped is suspected to have hit a traffic island, causing the rider to fall and suffer serious injuries. Police do not suspect that anyone else was involved and are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
