New nursing home planned for Ásbrú

Construction is beginning on a new nursing home at Keilisbraut on Ásbrú, mbl.is reports. The facility will cover about 6,500 square metres and provide 90 nursing spaces.

Icelandic Home ehf. is responsible for developing the nursing home, which is scheduled for handover in mid-2028.

A public information meeting about the project was held this week. The plans were presented through speeches and images, while Guðlaug Rakel Guðjónsdóttir, chief executive of the Health Institution of the Suðurnes region, and Vilhjálmur Árnason, mayor of Reykjanesbær, discussed the facility’s planned operations and its importance for the Suðurnes community.
