Two demonstrations are taking place in central Helsinki, disrupting traffic in the city centre, Yle reports. Hundreds of people are attending the events, which were both reported to police in advance.

The first demonstration, organised by Aurora Helsinki and the Varis network, set off from Rautatientori shortly before 2 p.m. Its stated theme is antifascism, and police estimate that about 600 people are taking part. The procession is scheduled to follow the route Rautatientori, Kaisaniemi, Hämeentie and Dallepénpuisto.

The second demonstration is organised by the openly racist and fascist Sinimusta Liike movement. It set off from Hakaniemi Market Square shortly after 2 p.m., with about 300 participants, according to police. The planned route runs through Hakaniemi Market Square, Kallio, Helsinginkatu, Mannerheimintie and Kansalaistori.

Police say both demonstrations are affecting traffic in central Helsinki.
