Police arrest man after Laugavegur fire

Police in the capital region arrested a man overnight in connection with a fire at a house at Laugavegur 16, mbl.is reports. Two people were taken to Landspítali’s emergency department on suspicion of smoke inhalation.

The police department’s log, covering incidents from 5pm on Tuesday to 5am on Wednesday, said the man was arrested over the fire and that the case was under investigation.

Two assaults in the city centre were also under investigation after the night, although neither was considered serious.
