inflation, layoffs, RÚV

Public broadcaster RÚV will reduce its workforce by the equivalent of 10 to 15 full-time positions as part of cost-cutting measures, mbl.is reports. Several employees were dismissed before the weekend, and the broadcaster has decided not to fill positions that become vacant through normal staff turnover.

RÚV Director-General Stefán Eiríksson said the measures were part of the broadcaster’s operations. High inflation this year and the outlook for next year had made it unavoidable to streamline operations and reduce staffing, he said.
