Two people and two dogs rescued from drifting boat

Two people and two dogs were rescued from a drifting motorboat in the Vöyri archipelago in Ostrobothnia on Sunday morning, Yle reported. The small boat had lost power because of an engine failure.

Strong winds and rough seas caused waves to break over the side of the boat. Those on board had to bail out water to keep the vessel afloat while waiting for help.

The Turku Maritime Rescue Centre alerted the Vaasa Maritime Rescue Association. Its rescue vessel Wärtsilä Rescue found the boat, which had dropped anchor to remain in place.

The two people and two dogs were evacuated onto the rescue vessel. Rescuers attached a towline to the motorboat and towed it ashore. No one was injured, and no animals were harmed.
