Danish police to investigate abuse allegations against Faderhuset

Ritzau reports for DR that police will investigate new allegations of violence and abuse at Faderhuset, a religious movement, to determine whether they could lead to a criminal case.
Police inspector Allan Holm of the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police told Kristeligt Dagblad that the investigation followed the newspaper’s inquiries.
The allegations were made in the book Child of Faderhuset, published on Monday. Former member Noah Rosendal writes that the movement’s leaders punished children through humiliation, violence, hard physical labour, control and isolation from their parents.
Police will examine whether the allegations involve circumstances that warrant bringing a criminal case, Holm said.
Faderhuset leader rejects allegations
Kristeligt Dagblad was unable to obtain a comment from Faderhuset leader Ruth Kristiansen, who was previously known as Ruth Evensen.
However, she denied in the podcast Q&Co on Thursday that she had hit children. She also denied that Faderhuset had any children affiliated with it.
Kristiansen said she and Faderhuset had been the target of a smear campaign for many years. She said, among other things, that nobody had taken an interest in Faderhuset before it bought the youth centre Ungdomshuset at Jagtvej 69 in 2001.
Asked why she had not commented in Child of Faderhuset, written by journalist Kristian Corfixen, Kristiansen said the book was based entirely on lies and that its purpose was not to hear her account.
Earlier reports were dismissed
Kristeligt Dagblad reports that the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police received two reports concerning Faderhuset in 2008. One involved sexual abuse and the other physical punishment.
Police concluded at the time that there was no basis to suspect that a criminal offence had been committed.
Faderhuset moved to Bandholm on Lolland in 2006, where the congregation bought Bandholm Hotel and used it as a base and meeting place. Faderhuset left Bandholm and Denmark in 2016.
