A secret ballot has been requested on a proposal to reduce the number of vice-presidents of the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) from three to one, mbl.is reports. Votes are now being counted at the union’s 47th congress.

The proposal, put forward by ASÍ’s executive committee, was rejected by 25 votes to 23 in the rules committee before being brought to the congress, where about 200 delegates will vote.

The three vice-presidents disagree over the proposal. Delegates are due to elect a new president and vice-president tomorrow.
