Gnags announces final tour after 60 years

Danish rock band Gnags will end its career with a final tour of five concerts in spring 2027, DR reports. The tour follows the band’s 60th anniversary.

Concert promoter Live Nation and lead singer Peter A.G. announced the tour in a press release, describing it as “a definitive farewell tour” and “one last tour in the ring”.

The five April concerts will take place in Aarhus, Aalborg, Herning, Odense and Copenhagen. The band will perform hits including “De Vilde Kaniner” and “Mr. Swing King”.

Peter A.G. said Gnags had played “pretty much every venue, festival and hall in Denmark” since 1966. He said 60 years on the road had taken its toll, so the band would focus on the country’s largest arenas to give audiences a final opportunity to see them.

Gnags was founded in 1966 by brothers Peter A.G. Nielsen and Jens Johan G. Nielsen. The band has released 25 albums during its 60-year career and is preparing a new album for release on September 4.

The band had originally planned to go on a farewell tour in 2022, but guitarist Per Frost died before it could take place. Frost had played with Gnags during its peak in the 1980s and 1990s and had returned in 2016.

His death left Peter A.G. as the band’s only original member. Peter A.G. then revived Gnags, recorded a new album and took the band on tour again.

Tickets for the five concerts go on sale on Friday, August 28.
