Telecoms and media company Sýn has ended negotiations with Ása hf., formerly Síminn hf., over the sale of its online and radio media, mbl.is reports.

The companies signed a term sheet on March 12 setting a deadline for completing a final purchase agreement and other required documents. That deadline has now passed without a purchase agreement being signed.

As a result, the agreement granting Ása exclusive rights to negotiate has lapsed and the negotiations have ended, Sýn said in a statement.

Sýn said it had met the conditions set out in the term sheet, including those related to the agreed purchase price, revenue and operating performance of the media unit.

The company said its online media and radio stations were strong businesses with sound operations and would continue to support its core activities. The outcome has no effect on Sýn’s published earnings forecast for 2026.
