John Deere Forestry, a manufacturer of forestry machinery, has initiated negotiations that could result in up to 25 job redundancies and a maximum of 35 changes in job roles. The discussions focus on revamping the company’s operational model and involve 363 employees across its four locations.

In Finland, John Deere employs a total of 800 people, with the majority working at its factory in Joensuu, while most administrative staff are based in Tampere. CEO Jari Mennala has not yet commented on the potential number of layoffs or their distribution across different units, stating that “it is still entirely open at this stage.”

The negotiations are motivated by the need to adjust the operations of the company’s globally active parent group, Deere, to align with the current market situation and to strengthen the competitive position of the forestry machinery business. The objective is to enhance the company’s customer focus, competitiveness, and cost-efficiency.
