One person was seriously injured after falling into an empty grain silo in Mäntsälä, Yle reported.
The accident happened on Sarolantie on Friday afternoon during the dismantling of the grain silo. The worker fell about four metres from the silo roof to its floor.
Rescue services and paramedics freed the person by dismantling part of the silo’s sheet-metal wall. Bolts holding a sheet-metal panel were removed from the side, allowing paramedics to quickly reach the patient through a maintenance hatch, said Juha Gröhn, the duty fire officer at the Central Uusimaa rescue department.
The seriously injured patient was taken to hospital for treatment.
