Áfram Ísland holds final referendum meeting in Grundarfjörður

Áfram Ísland will hold its final public meeting before Iceland’s referendum on 29 August in Grundarfjörður on Sunday, mbl.is reports.

The meeting will take place at Fjölbrautaskóli Snæfellinga, a school in Grundarfjörður, at 5pm. The movement has held meetings across the country in recent weeks.

Three speakers are scheduled to address the meeting: Bjarni Jónsson, a former member of parliament and former chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Margrét Gísladóttir, managing director of SAFL; and Björn Guðmundsson, a marine engineer. Sigurbjörg Ottesen, a farmer and local council leader, will chair the meeting.
