SMHI warns of torrential rain and thunderstorms across central Sweden

Sweden’s weather is set to turn after a week of heat and sunshine, with two yellow warnings issued for torrential rain and thunderstorms, SVT reported.

Rain is expected across large parts of central Sweden during the night from Saturday into Sunday. Parts of Dalarna, Jämtland, Gävleborg and Västernorrland could receive rain resembling cloudbursts, with locally heavy showers bringing 30 to 60 millimetres. Even larger amounts are possible in Medelpad, northern Hälsingland and Ångermanland. Thunderstorms are also possible.

Large amounts of rain are also expected across much of Värmland, parts of southern Dalarna and Västmanland, as well as northern Uppland and Gästrikland.
