Museum moves AaB exhibition after container used as toilet

DR reports that Nordjyske Museer has moved its exhibition on football club AaB’s more than 140-year history after unknown people repeatedly urinated inside the exhibition container.

The exhibition, called “The Club and the City”, opened last week at John F. Kennedy’s Square in central Aalborg. It has now been relocated to the south side of Aalborg Stadium, where AaB plays its home matches.

“We have experienced several times that people have urinated inside the exhibition container. That obviously cannot continue,” said Thor Bæch Pedersen, a museum inspector at Nordjyske Museer.

The square is frequently used by socially vulnerable people. The museum said it had been aware of this before placing the container there, but had not previously encountered problems during four seasons of touring exhibitions in locations with many people, including people drinking beer.

“It is obviously very unfortunate and, to put it plainly, really frustrating,” Bæch Pedersen said.

Asked whether a rival football supporter could have been responsible, he joked that it was possible someone wearing an AGF shirt had decided the container was a good place to urinate, but said he did not believe that was the case.

The AaB exhibition is part of Nordjyske Museer’s “The Short History” concept, which has presented local stories in different parts of North Jutland since 2023.

The exhibition can be seen at Aalborg Stadium until August 24. Nordjyske Museer said it would continue creating mobile exhibitions for the public.
