forecast, Iceland, weather

Iceland is set for unusually warm weather over the coming days, with temperatures in the east potentially reaching 14 degrees on Monday, mbl.is reports.

Teitur Arason, a meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, said a high-pressure system over the British Isles and low-pressure systems near southern Greenland were bringing southerly winds and warm air to Iceland.

“It will sometimes be wet in the south and west, but warm in downslope winds in the north and east,” Arason said. Warm air is forecast across the country.

The high-pressure system over the British Isles is expected to remain stationary, making southerly winds likely in Iceland for several days. Asked whether the forecast temperatures were high for November, Arason said such temperatures could occur in any month when warm air moves in.
