SVT reporter declines to predict Sweden election winner

SVT political reporter Julia Lindvall declined to predict the winner of Sweden’s 2026 election during a reader chat on Wednesday.

Asked who would win, Lindvall said that anyone able to answer with certainty should come forward. She said the opposition had held a clear lead during the spring and early summer.

SVT will publish a new opinion poll next week, Lindvall said, adding that it would be interesting to see whether the political landscape had changed during the summer. Swedes will vote in less than a month.
