Elderly fisherman drowns in lake near Lohja

An elderly man who had gone fishing drowned in Puujärvi lake near Lohja, Yle reported. Several rescue service units were sent to the scene.

The man was travelling alone in a boat, according to Hannu Kontola, general leader of the Western Uusimaa police.

A bystander saw the drowned man in the water, police said. The circumstances remain unclear, but police do not suspect a crime. The case is being investigated as a death inquiry.

The rescue service received its first information about the incident shortly after 2pm on Friday. Puujärvi is located in Karjalohja, Lohja.
