Sandoy sees highest wage growth in Faroes

Wages on the Faroese island of Sandoy rose by 12.6% from July 2025 to June 2026, the sharpest increase in the archipelago, according to figures from Kringvarp Føroya.

A total of 14 billion kroner in wages were paid across the Faroes during the period. The data covers only wages subject to contemporary tax arrangements.

North Streymoy recorded the lowest growth at 3.9%. Other regions saw increases of 8.8% in the Northern Isles, 7.3% in Eysturoy, 6.3% in Vágar, 5.5% in Suðuroy, and 5% in South Streymoy. Wages for residents abroad rose by 2%.
