Diesel prices in Sweden have risen by nearly 1.50 SEK per litre in two days following renewed hostilities in the Middle East, according to SVT.

Fuel chains raised diesel prices by 60 öre on Tuesday and a further 80 öre on Wednesday, tracking rising global oil markets. Petrol prices increased by just over 50 öre per litre over the same period, based on corporate price lists that suggest similar changes for private motorists.

The new prices are approximately 18.60 SEK per litre for diesel and just over 15 SEK for petrol. The conflict between the US and Iran intensified over the weekend, disrupting oil shipments through the critical Strait of Hormuz.

Despite a government cut to fuel tax of 3 SEK per litre at the mid-year mark, prices remain relatively low.
