Errors have been discovered in the scoring of sub-questions in the spring 2026 university C-selection exam, the University of Helsinki announced. The issue affects applicants whose exam scores were just below the lowest accepted score for their chosen programme, as well as those who answered the incorrectly scored questions.

A list of the affected questions has been published on the yliopistovalinnat.fi website, showing how many points were incorrectly awarded and which answers would have earned points, according to the university.

Olli Ruth, the exam chair and a university lecturer at the University of Helsinki, apologised for the situation. Applicants who took the exam can request a review of their scoring by 16 July 2026 to have the points for the affected questions adjusted. However, a universal correction for all applicants is not possible because admission results for different programmes have already been published, Ruth said.

Instructions for requesting a review have been emailed to exam participants, the university stated. The issue does not affect applicants who have already received a study place offer or those who took other entrance exams.

The C-selection exam was a joint test for six fields, including biology, food sciences, and geography, held on 4 June.
