Former Norwegian deputy party leader and ex-fisheries minister Per Sandberg has had both his personal and business Facebook accounts hacked, he told Dagbladet.
Sandberg, now based in Vietnam, said he woke to find his accounts taken over, losing access to his business profile with around 40,000 followers and his Messenger contacts.
After repeated attempts to regain access, Meta informed him the issue was a “temporary error” on their part. Despite this, his accounts remain locked, with recovery attempts failing due to mismatched login details.
Metaโs support process, which requires logging in with the same blocked credentials to appeal, has left him unable to resolve the issue. Sandberg called the guidelines “more confusing than solution-oriented.”
He said the experience has given him firsthand understanding of the frustration victims of digital theft face.
Dagbladet has not received a comment from Meta.
