Thieves ram pharmacy window and steal medicines
Thieves reversed a car into a window at Efstaleitisapótek, a pharmacy, during the night and stole medicines, mbl.is reports. Police in the capital region are investigating and working to identify those responsible.
“A car was reversed into a window, the perpetrators went inside and medicines were stolen,” Jóhann Karl Þórisson, deputy chief of police in the capital region, told mbl.is.
He said the value of the stolen goods and the types of medicines taken were not yet known.
Based on images, the thieves appear to have been two people. Jóhann said the burglary seemed to have been planned, as they appeared to know roughly which drawer to search.
No suspects have been identified. “Hopefully we will catch them,” Jóhann said.
This was the second break-in at Efstaleitisapótek this summer. In July, one person was arrested after forcing open a door to enter the pharmacy. The suspect escaped in a Hopp car-sharing vehicle, which was later abandoned on a footpath in Fossvogur.
