Seinäjoki tango festival opens today
Finland The Seinäjoki tango festival, Tangomarkkinat, begins today, marking its 42nd edition in the Finnish city. The event first launched in 1985.
The five-day summer festival runs through Sunday. Under-25s will have free entry to Tangokatu street on Thursday.
On Friday, a major entertainment concert will take place at Tango Arena at 19:00, featuring Erika Vikman, Kyösti Mäkimattila, Laura Voutilainen, Tuure Kilpeläinen, Arja Koriseva, Maria Lund, Amadeus Lundberg, Pepe Willberg, Saija Tuupanen, and Teemu Roivainen, backed by the Samuli Jokinen orchestra. The concert, hosted by Jenna Bågeberg and Hanna Kataja-Rahko, will air live on TV1, Radio Suomi, and Yle Areena starting at 21:05.
On Saturday, the 2026 Tango King and Queen will be crowned. The singing competition final will broadcast live on TV1, Radio Suomi, and Yle Areena at 19:30, hosted by Katja Ståhl and Mikko Kekäläinen. The 2025 winners, Hanna Hirvonen and Veeti Tikkanen, will pass on their crowns.
