Record applications to Copenhagen Business School as most face rejection

Copenhagen Business School (CBS) has received a record 10,242 applications for its bachelor’s programmes this year, the university announced in a press release.

The previous high, set in 2024, saw 9,176 applicants. This year, 7,463 listed CBS as their first choice, a 7% increase.

Despite the surge in interest, fewer than 3,000 applicants will be offered a place, meaning roughly two out of three will be rejected. The university has cut 315 study spots—an 11% reduction—since 2024, following a 2023 reform that reduced overall university capacity nationwide.

Anna Thomasson, CBS dean of education, expressed regret over the necessity of turning away qualified candidates due to the reduced intake. Rector Peter Møllgaard noted strong demand for CBS graduates in the labour market, citing their role in helping businesses navigate geopolitical shifts, new technologies, and green transitions.

The figures include applications from both quota 1, which selects students based solely on exam grades, and quota 2, which also considers extracurricular and academic activities. The quota 1 application deadline was Sunday at noon.
