Provinssi festival draws over 70,000 visitors
The Provinssi festival in Seinäjoki attracted over 70,000 visitors last weekend, matching last year’s attendance, organizers told Yle.
Festival director Ville Koivisto called the event a success, particularly Saturday, which he described as one of the best days in the festival’s history. Crowds filled the venue, and all performances drew strong audiences.
However, Saturday’s opening faced criticism. Entry gates opened just over 30 minutes before Eppu Normaali’s performance, causing congestion. Some attendees were still queuing when the band started. Koivisto acknowledged that opening the gates earlier might have helped.
Despite the hiccup, Koivisto said feedback on the issue was surprisingly limited. Overall, logistics ran smoothly, with few complaints.
Financial results for this year’s event are still being finalized, but early ticket sales for next year’s festival are already strong—a sign of visitor satisfaction, according to Koivisto.
