Finland, Helsinki, pride

Helsinki’s streets burst with colour, feathers, and leather on Saturday as the Helsinki Pride parade marched from Senate Square to Kaivopuisto under sunny skies, reports Yle.

This year’s theme, “freedom grows,” saw an estimated 100,000 participants, according to Helsinki police. The event showcased bold outfits inspired by everything from Japanese Gyaru culture to Helsinki’s samba carnival, with many incorporating rainbow colours and glitter.

Some participants, like Pauli Saarinen, drew inspiration from Tom of Finland, while others, such as Helena Pääkkönen, kept it simple with a statement red. The parade also served as a protest, with many carrying signs.
