Meteorologists have issued multiple yellow warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across parts of Norway ahead of tonight’s World Cup clash between Norway and France, Dagbladet reports.

Rogaland, Agder, Vestland, and parts of eastern Norway face risks of torrential downpours and intense lightning, with storms expected to begin around 20:00 and ease overnight. Forecasters warn of potential flash flooding, disrupted watercourses, landslides, and water entering basements.

“These thunderstorms are so intense and carry so much rain that we classify it as cloudburst-level, meaning over 20 mm per hour,” said duty meteorologist Aslaug Skålevik Valved. She added that some areas may see impacts during the second half of the match or immediately after, though timing remains uncertain.

Thunderstorms have already developed north of Boknafjord and in Hardanger, with further warnings issued for southern Østlandet from midnight to 08:00 Saturday. Northern and central Norway will see rain, while Nordvestlandet and Trøndelag are expected to stay clear.
