Per Busk named new director of Faroese hospital authority

Per Busk has been appointed director of Sjúkrahúsverkið, the Faroese national hospital authority, and will also serve as hospital director at Landssjúkrahúsið, the national hospital, the health ministry announced Tuesday.

He takes up the post on 1 July, succeeding Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen, the current health minister. Busk brings extensive leadership experience from Denmark’s health sector, including long-term service as hospital director at Esbjerg Sygehus and, most recently, six months as acting hospital director in the Faroes.

His background includes senior roles in Region Syddanmark, where he worked on hospital planning, health insurance, pre-hospital services, and hospital financing. Busk holds a cand.scient.pol. degree from Aarhus University (1993) and a leadership qualification from KIOL (2004).

The position oversees Landssjúkrahúsið, Klaksvíkar Sjúkrahús, Suðuroyar Sjúkrahús, and the patient hotel in Keypmannahavn. Six candidates applied for the role.
