One missing after boat capsizes in Gloppen river

A rescue operation is underway in Gloppen municipality, Vestland, after a boat carrying two men capsized in a river overnight. One man reached shore, while the other remains missing, Vest politidistrikt reported.

The incident was reported at 3:43 AM on Sunday. Operations leader Morten Rebnord stated that the river has a strong current. The man who made it to land was wet, cold, and bruised, and is now receiving medical care. The boat has been located, according to NRK.

Air ambulance and rescue helicopter assisted in the search but have since returned, local newspaper Firda reported. Police operations leader Eirik Skjerdal told NRK that the search would continue, with ongoing assessments of how long to persist.

Relatives of the missing man have been notified, according to both Firda and NRK.
