Farmers and truckers join Wadden Sea fishermen in protest against ‘desk-bound Denmark’

Farmers and hauliers joined Wadden Sea fishermen on Friday in a protest against what they call “desk-bound Denmark,” following a ban on bottom-trawling in designated areas, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The fishermen invited landowners and truck drivers to the demonstration on Rømø island. Minister for Social Resilience and Emergency Management Lisbeth Bech-Nielsen of the Socialist People’s Party told DR she understands the local concern over the future of the fishing industry.
