Alberte Emilie Greve will race the Copenhagen Sprint on Saturday in the red-and-white Danish national champion’s jersey, likely for the last time before the national road championships later this month, the rider told DR.
The 20-year-old Uno-X Mobility Cycling rider, originally from Næstved, won the women’s road race title in Aalborg last year and has worn the Dannebrog jersey ever since. With the next national championships approaching, she expects today’s WorldTour event to be her final outing in the colours.
“This will be my last race in the jersey, and I expect it will be quite emotional to finish the race knowing it’s the last one for this year,” Greve said.
The second edition of the Copenhagen Sprint starts in Roskilde, loops north through Frederikssund and Hillerød, then returns south for multiple laps of central Copenhagen. Greve, who attended high school at Niels Brock in the city, said she knows the streets well.
“If I had to pick one city in the world to race in, it would definitely be Copenhagen. I know the city inside out, and it’s amazing to race on roads I’m familiar with,” she said.
Greve called the event “the perfect full stop” to her year as national champion and said it motivates her to give everything, regardless of fatigue or difficulty.
DR will broadcast the Copenhagen Sprint live on DRTV and DR1 from 13:00.
