McDonald’s has removed its McVegan and Vegan Burger options from its Finnish menu, the company confirmed to Yle.

The fast-food chain replaced them with the McVeggie, a vegetarian burger containing cheese. Marketing director Satu Ylikortes said customer feedback drove the change, as the addition of cheese provided the desired taste and fullness. The company currently has no vegan cheese alternative.

McDonald’s stated it had tested several plant-based options before updating its vegetable patty recipe and launching the McVeggie. The new patty contains wheat protein. Customers can still order a vegan version by requesting no cheese.

Vegan nuggets remain available, prepared separately from non-vegan products to ensure they are fully plant-based. The company said it continuously evaluates its product portfolio based on customer input but did not confirm whether the change is permanent.
