The Finnish Tax Administration has filed for bankruptcy against Fire Factory, a company specialising in fireworks, pyrotechnics, and special effects for large-scale events, according to a report by Yle.
A bankruptcy petition was submitted to Kymenlaakso District Court on Monday. The tax authority’s claims against the company total approximately €47,000.
Teppo Hakkarainen, the Kotka-based pyrotechnician and fireworks professional behind Fire Factory, stated that the bankruptcy filing would not disrupt the company’s operations. He confirmed that all scheduled summer performances would proceed as planned.
Hakkarainen attributed the debts to the early stages of the company’s operations during the coronavirus pandemic, when events were widely cancelled. He added that Fire Factory has since struggled financially and is now seeking to resolve the situation through a debt repayment arrangement.
Fire Factory is known for designing and executing fireworks and special effects for public events, festivals, and private occasions. The company has provided pyrotechnics for stadium concerts by major Finnish artists, including Kaija Koo, Haloo Helsinki, and Antti Tuisku, as well as New Year’s fireworks displays in Kotka.
