Finnair to resume flights from Turku and Tampere in October
Finnair will restore flights from Turku and Tampere to its network in October 2026, the airline announced in a statement reported by Yle. The routes, suspended since 2023, are designed primarily to serve passengers connecting through Helsinki.
The carrier will operate one daily overnight flight to both cities, allowing evening arrivals in Helsinki to reach Turku and Tampere, with return services in the morning to connect to Finnair’s early European departures. Additional daytime flights will link Turku and Tampere to Helsinki, with one route extending from Oulu to Tampere and another from Stockholm to Turku before continuing to Helsinki.
All flights will use 68–70-seat ATR aircraft. The scheduled daily services are as follows:
Tampere: Helsinki–Tampere: 23:50–00:20 (+1) Tampere–Helsinki: 06:00–06:35 Tampere–Helsinki: 12:20–12:50 Oulu–Tampere: 10:55–11:55
Turku: Helsinki–Turku: 23:50–00:20 (+1) Turku–Helsinki: 06:00–06:35 Turku–Helsinki: 11:55–12:30 Stockholm–Turku: 09:45–11:30
Marja Aalto, an aviation specialist at Business Tampere, called the announcement significant for both national connectivity and the regions of Tampere and Turku. She noted the schedules primarily benefit business travellers by facilitating connections to Finnair’s network, while the Oulu route adds domestic links. Negotiations for a potential Stockholm connection are ongoing, though no updates were provided.
