The police investigation into a robbery that occurred in Hamraborg at the end of March is currently at a standstill as authorities await data from the police’s technical department. The incident involved two men who broke into a cash transport vehicle in Hamraborg on March 25, stealing cash bags containing 30 million krónur (approximately 210,000 USD).
Heimir Ríkharðsson, a police spokesperson, confirmed that one individual is currently regarded as a suspect in the case. The investigation remains inactive until the awaited evidence is received. A man in his 40s was arrested in early May and held in custody for ten days. He has since been released but still maintains a status as a suspect in the matter.
Detective officials have expressed uncertainty regarding the timeframe in which they will receive the necessary information from the technical department, making it difficult to predict when the investigation will progress.
