A large-scale data centre will be built at Nokia’s former Rusko site in Oulu, with the first phase set to open as early as next autumn, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
The project, named Campus Oulu, is being developed in stages as a hub for digital services, with a potential total capacity of up to 300 megawatts—exceeding the planned 200 MW AmpTank data centre in Utajärvi. Developers Trevian, a Finnish property firm, and Swedish cloud services provider Glesys—already operating data centres in Helsinki, Pori, Tampere, and Oulu—are behind the initiative.
Existing infrastructure and electrical capacity at the vacated Nokia site will enable the accelerated launch of the first phase, Trevian stated.
