Independence groups hold rally under sovereignty slogan

An Independence rally titled “Free Iceland, a sovereign nation” was held at Tónabíó on Skipholt on Tuesday, mbl.is reports.

The event was organised by several groups within the Independence Party, along with the Association of Independence Supporters on Sovereignty Matters.

Speakers included Independence Party leader Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir, MP Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Kópavogur Mayor Ásdís Kristjánsdóttir and Júlíus Viggó Ólafsson, chairman of the Association of Young Independents. Stefán Einar Stefánsson chaired the meeting.
