Child dies after being trapped under bus in Turku

A school-aged child was killed Wednesday evening in Turku after being struck and trapped under a bus at a pedestrian crossing, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Littoistentie and Karvataskunkatu in the Varissuo district. Police confirmed the collision took place on a marked crosswalk.

The bus driver is under investigation on suspicion of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and aggravated vehicular manslaughter. Traffic was diverted from the scene following the crash.
