Denmark’s Agency for Digitisation has launched AltID, a government-backed digital identification app that allows users to control how much personal information they share, state broadcaster DR reported Wednesday.

The app functions as both a photo ID and proof of age, carrying the same legal weight as a driver’s licence or passport. Users can choose which details—such as name, age, or address—to display when verifying their identity.

Authorities plan to expand the app’s capabilities to include additional official documents in the future.
